President’s Message:
On Wednesday evening, June 4, 2025, Valley Unity Republican Women held their annual Scholarship Awards Meeting at Woodland Hills Country Club. The evening was filled with excitement and enthusiasm. Five local high school graduating seniors, attending colleges and universities in the fall, were selected by the scholarship committee to receive the Thomas Paine Merit and Victoria Wilson Memorial Scholarships. The committee reviewed 11 submissions and chose the top scoring five for scholarships. The scholarships were based on grade point average, resume achievements, and a 500-word essay concerning “Meritocracy”.
During the evening festivities three of the winners read their essays to the members and guests. Two of the winners presented their essays through video, because one winner was in Israel and the other was at Florida State University. Members of all the winners' families were in attendance. The two missing winners had family members accept the Certificate of Achievement and scholarship checks for them. It was a very moving ceremony for VURW members and families. VURW is proud to offer this donor-funded scholarship program every year.
Valley Unity Republican Women go on hiatus for July and August. Members look forward to attending the GSRW, July 19, Conference “Learning to Lead”. We appreciate the generosity of our scholarship donor, Mr. Phil Wilson, and the GSRW new sponsors, Mr. & Mrs. Jong Lee. With their support and magnimity Valley Unity Republican Women, along with Golden State Republican Women will continue to grow and flourish for California.
